Plant of Month - Redbud
PLANT of the MONTH
Redbud (Cercis canadensis)

Redbud is a small tree (up to about 30 ft) which is very suitable for urban gardens. In winter, its rusty coloured trunk and zig-zag branches are attractive. In spring Redbuds become spectacular with their bright pink flowers along the length of their bare branches. As the flowers fade, heart shaped leaves appear, small and bronzed at first, becoming larger and light green.
